JCI Galway is part of the largest personal and leadership development organisation for young people in the World - Junior Chamber International. It provides an excellent way to meet new people, develop yourself and contribute to the betterment of the community - all at the same time. The organisation is non-profit making, non-denominational and non-political. The only criteria for applying for membership is that you be between the age of 18 and 40.

The 'new look' 2008 JCI Galway City and County Tourist Guide has been launched this year in association with the Galway City Museum on the evening of the 25th of April.
It has to be the best guide to Galway ever with its new format, new look and new features.

Darragh McGann's CD/EP Single Launch - Make A Wish

Congratulations to Darragh on a beautiful rendition of 'Make a wish' which Darragh, a former President of JCI Cobh, sang with great pride recently at the Galway launch of Darragh's CD/EP Single “Make a Wish” ( April 17th , Galway Museum , 6 pm).

With all proceeds going to GOAL’s school building project in Malawi, Darraghs single is now on sale at all leading music stores.
JCI Galway would like to encourage all members and friends to support Darragh and buy the single and let's push it into the top 20!! Why not!!

JCI Galway - Information evening - Lohans Bar, Salthill, 17th April,8 pm.

A great evening was had recently at the first of many information evenings which was held in Lohans Bar and Restaurant, Salthill, Galway on Thursday, 17th April at 8pm.
Thanks to Patricia and all for hosting a great evening and to Maura for organising same.

Galway Chamber - Business After Hours (BAH) - April Event.

Business After Hours event for April will be held in O’Briens Irish Sandwich Bar, Unit 3A Liosban Business Park, Tuam Road, Thursday, 24th April at 6pm.
Refreshments will be served, bring along your business cards, great networking opportunity.

JCI European Conference

June 4th - 8th, Turku, Finland - the Conference registration fee will be 330 EUR.

Remember!!! There are subsidies available for those travelling to Turku, closing date for applications is April 30th. Flights currently at around E120 approx, accomadation at E50 per night approx.

G & T (Galway & Tuam) Tag Rugby - Training commences from 7.30 pm,every Thursday.
Meet @ Mervue Church Car park & training in pitch adjacent. Wear sports gear & runners!
Squad is now full, but all members are welcome to train with the JCI G & T Team. (1 hour approx.)

Mayoral Ball 2008

JCI Galway is taking a table at the Mayoral Ball 2008 for Galway City Mayor Cllr Tom Costello.
This is always a well attended night by members and a guranteed great night of entertainment,excitement & glamour!
JCI Galway is offering a subsidy of 35 euros towards the first 14 names that reply to Rhonda's email.
Tickets are retailing at 120 euros, so this is a great opportunity to get your tickets at 85 euros! Not to be missed!
JCI Galway always has a great attendance as members at the Mayoral Ball, which will be hosted by Mayor of Galway, the honourable, Mr. Tom Costello at the Clayton Hotel on Saturday, 17th May 2008.
JCI Galway will be taking a table or two if demand takes it!

JCI Galway Walking Club

The first walk of 2008 will take place on Saturday, May 17th in Castlehackett, followed by lunch after in the 'cottage' within the ground of Ashford Castle.
Meet in the car park of Menlo Park Hotel to car pool @ 11.30am.
Directions: take Tuam Road, just before Tuam take the road that is signposted for Headford & travel for circa 2.5 miles to Castlehackett.
(Walk will be discussed at May's General Meeting).

Charity Golf Event – Nepalese Children’s Foundation

A charity Golf outing will take place in Athenry Golf Club on Friday, June 13th and promises to be a day of fun for everyone, regardless of golfing ability!
It's a four ball competition, followed by four course dinner and a live band (Gemini 4) in the clubhouse, with transport back to town.
A team of four costs €400.
This event is being organized by Nicky Deasy, Nicky is a 2008 JCI Galway TOYP Nominee.

Want to run a Marathon? - June 2nd, 2008, (June Bank Holiday Monday 9am).

Training has commenced...First training event was the 8k in Maree, Oranmore, 13th April, followed by the Athenry 10k on Sunday the 20th April @ 2pm.
All highly enjoyable!
There is also the first Sligo Mini Marathon takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May, from The Village Inn, Cartron at 3pm.
Runners and Walkers are assured of a fun, family friendly day out with registration at €10 participants can raise sponsorship for The Carers Association or a charity of their choice.

Cuirt International Festival of Literature 2008.

April 22nd to 27th.
Bardic Brunch
This year's Bardic Brunch is on the last day of the Cuirt Literary Festival, Sunday April 27th, at 11.30.
It will feature Cuirt regular Little John Nee, a slightly quirky playwright and performer, the similarly humourous Karl MacDermott.
Breakfast included!

Charity Fashion Show - Loughrea –Wednesday 23rd April.

Slatefort House Restaurant, Bullaun, Loughrea on 23rd April where shops like Rococo, Demora,Okinara, BT, PIA, Les Jumelles, Monet, Design Platform, and Fahy's Menswear are featured.
Its a charity fundraiser for Galway Hospice Brazil Trek and tickets are available at E45 from participating boutiques.
